Hip hop is an art. Some masterpieces happen overnight, but others need a little more time to fully bloom. That probably explains why some hip hop artists have been MIA for a long time now. (Like, come on, Beyonce; how long do you want fans to be hooked on “Lemonade”? Give ‘em new content to vibe to!)

Unlike people like Gucci Mane and Drake, who have been dropping bops left and right, there are some artists who have fallen off the radar. This was likely either due to them working in silence on new hip hop albums to ultimately hit us with a ninja attack or to focus their energy on other endeavours (Hi, Rihanna x Fenty).

Whatever our favorite artists are up to right now, we demand that they give us new hip hop albums soon, because we’ve got clubs to party at and festivals to attend. PERIOD

Buckle up, fam, because these are the rappers and singers who need to get back on the charts, so we can stan them again and give our playlists a makeover.

Childish Gambino

Okay, so Donald Glover, A.K.A. Childish Gambino, dropped his latest album, 3.15.20, back in good ol’ 2020. We haven’t heard from the “Stand Tall” singer all throughout 2021, so consider this a petition for some new music ASAP. It’s about time that we add his unique sound to our playlists once again.

Childish Gambino is no stranger to the hip hop music charts. If he decides to make a comeback in 2022, we’re making space in our minds, so his new tracks can live there rent-free.

Busta Rhymes

We haven’t seen this hip hop legend since he dropped Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God in 2020. As one of the G.O.A.T.s in the industry, we wouldn’t mind if Busta Rhymes released an album twice a year…

But since that isn’t the case, we would accept it if he would be so kind as to drop a new hip hop album in 2022. Thank you very much.

Beyonce gave fans a taste of Lemonade back in 2016. Then she returned in 2018 to belt out nine tracks about how “Everything is Love”.

The wife and mom may have momentarily taken a step back from the limelight, but we heard a rumour that she’s been experimenting with new sounds in the studio and might be back with some fresh Queen Bey stuff very soon.

Is this our chance to learn a new dance routine that will top “Single Ladies”? We hope so, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. (Get it?)

Travis Scott

It’s totally capless when we say that Travis Scott’s name and music are literally everywhere. The rapper, who just released his brand new single, “Escape Plan”, is swimming in the mainstream and we can’t say that he’ll be slowing down anytime soon.

For a while, it’s just been single launches, but there have been signs pointing towards the release of one of his new hip hop albums, Utopia. When will he launch his fresh collection of club tracks? Nobody knows for sure, but 2022 sounds good, right?

Rihanna’s music hits different, and that’s a fact you can check. Ever since she made a grand entrance with “S.O.S.” and “Pon the Replay”, there was no doubt about it that she was bound to be crowned as one of the queens of hip hop and R&B.

Anti is her latest album that dates all the way back to 2016. While that makes fans kinda sad, we’re all glad that she’s winning at life with her Fenty cosmetics line too.

This will make you smile, though, as there have been speculations that Rihanna is gearing up for a music comeback. We’re basically crossing our fingers that it’ll be in 2022 or sooner. After all, she shines bright like she’s the only girl in the world. IYKYK.

Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean has been MIA in the album department since Blonde in 2016. He did, however, release a double A-side single, “Cayendo” and “Dear April”, in April of 2020. But we think that he still owes us a whole album!

So, will this neo-soul artist be dropping new hip hop albums soon? IDK, but time (and cryptic IG posts or rumours) will definitely tell.
